Introduction to Spreadsheets

Overview:
In this unit you are going to explore using Spreadsheets to combine a nice layout with powerful math functions.  You will learn at a self-pace using the video tutorials below.  Read the Assignment Description below to get an idea of where you are heading.  Then proceed to the first video tutorial to start learning about spreadsheets.  Create your own spreadsheet and practice the new concepts you are learning.  Continue on to the rest of the tutorial videos, as you build your skills for working with spreadsheets.

The Assignment Description:
Design a creative sign to advertise for a Garage Sale.  Use cell merging, formatting, color, and more to make it easy to read and eye-catching.
Things to include are: make list of some of the items to be sold showing columns for: Name, Description, Quantity, and Price (don't forget to use Operators to do the math for you.  Other ideas for things to include in your sign are: Location, directions, contact info, and images.  Be creative, and have fun. 


Start out with basics "Spreadsheets 101" -  You will learn how to do the following: (1) change a spreadsheet’s name; (2) view the menu bar, formatting bar, and formula bar; (3) add sheets; (4) modify the size of rows and columns; and (5) add columns and rows.

Next, after creating, naming, saving and sharing (post a link to your document in the class DropBox form) your first sheet, move on to Formatting cells and text and the other tutorials below.  These will help you gain more skills.
